I am a DPhil student in Politics at St Peter's College, University of Oxford.
My research explores the instrumentalisation of law in processes of democratic backsliding, with a focus on anticipating legal vulnerabilities, corresponding authoritarian strategies, and sources of democratic resilience.
Before beginning my doctorate, I was a Senior Editor and Researcher at Verfassungsblog, a global forum for scholarly debate on constitutional law and politics. There, I co-initiated the award-winning Thüringen-Projekt, which examined the potential consequences of authoritarian populists coming to power in the German state of Thuringia. I led the subsequent Judicial Resilience Project, which analysed vulnerabilities and the resilience of the German judiciary using scenario-based analysis. In these capacities, I have contributed to public debate through talks, media appearances, and publications with outlets including Deutschlandfunk, Zeit Online, and Spiegel Online.
I hold degrees in Law and Political Science from the University of Leipzig.
