Senkai Hsia
Senkai Hsia is studying for an MPhil in International Relations as a Rotary Foundation Global Grant Scholar. Under the supervision of Professor Ranjit Lall, Senkai's research examines evolving US economic strategy with Indo-Pacific allies, with broader interests in US foreign policy, US-China relations, and international political economy.
Before coming to Oxford, Senkai was a researcher at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he co-authored several reports on U.S. foreign policy, including Implementing the Biden Administration's China Strategy (with Christopher S. Chivvis). His public service experience includes roles on the policy staff of the 2024 Harris presidential campaign, the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the US Department of Transportation, where he served as a US delegate to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). He currently serves as a research assistant to former US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines.
Senkai holds a BA in International Relations and a BS in Mechanical Engineering, both with distinction, from Stanford University, where he served on the presidential search committee which selected the university's thirteenth president.
