Andrew Payne announced as Hedley Bull Fellow

Date

The Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Payne as the new Hedley Bull Research Fellow in International Relations.

Currently, Mr Payne is finishing his DPhil in the Department; his ESRC-sponsored doctoral research explores the impact of electoral politics on US decision-making. Focusing on the Korean, Vietnam, and Iraq wars, his work looks at the impact of the electoral calendar in key moments – whether choices were made more decisively or more cautiously. Mr Payne’s research interests centre on US foreign policy, international security, and civil/military relations.

The Hedley Bull Research Fellowship in International Relations is a three year research post, named after Hedley Bull, the esteemed Montague Burton Professor of International Relations.

Mr Payne will begin his Fellowship in Michaelmas Term 2019.
