Ezequiel Gonzalez-Ocantos joins editorial team of APSA research methods publication

Drs Ezequiel Gonzalez-Ocantos and Juan Masullo (Leiden University; former DPIR Departmental Lecturer) are the new editors of Qualitative and Multi-Method Research (QMMR).

QMMR is the biannual publication of the American Political Science Association section devoted to the study, development, and practice of qualitative and multi-method research techniques.

The two new editors invite submissions for articles and symposia, and especially encourage proposals of broad interest for QMMR scholars, such as discussions of new methods and techniques, author-meets-critics symposia for recent methodological publications, or contributions to ongoing debates about the theory and practice of qualitative and/or multi-method research.

The new editorial team has decided to add two new sections, one dedicated called “Notes from the field,” featuring vivid personal reflections on the challenges involved in conducting fieldwork, and another called “Notes from the classroom,” a space for scholars who teach qualitative methods to share advice on how to (and how not to) teach certain topics/techniques, including examples of syllabus design, in-class exercises, and more.

Ezequiel comments: 'A massive thank you to Dr Jennifer Cyr, who did a terrific job as editor since 2018. She has trained Juan and I well, so we are ready to take over the publication.

'We encourage you to send us your work. Articles are always peer-reviewed; the same is true for some symposia. Notes from the Classroom and from the Field, however, will be reviewed in house. If you have questions or are not sure whether your piece belongs in QMMR, please contact us.'
