Oxford retains top spot for politics in The Guardian UK University rankings

Date

DPIR has again been named the number one department in the UK for politics in The Guardian’s UK universities rankings.

The Department fought off stiff competition from Cambridge and Salford in second and third place respectively to retain prime position for the subject, with an overall score of 100 – nearly nine points ahead of Cambridge.

Oxford was also named the best University overall in the UK, taking first place from last year’s prime-placed university St Andrew’s, which fell to second position.

The Guardian’s league tables rank institutions by subject, based on student satisfaction, staff numbers, spending and career prospects.

Professor David Doyle, DPIR’s new Head of Department, said:

"This is wonderful news. I am delighted that we have been able to retain our top spot.

“It is a testament to the incredible hard work and wonderful dedication of all our colleagues in the Department.”
