DPIR’S Patricia Thornton recognised in Recognition of Distinction Scheme 2025

Each year, the University of Oxford recognises academic excellence with the Recognition of Distinction Scheme. 

This year, we are delighted to announce that the title of full professor has been conferred upon Professor Patricia Thornton (Professor of Chinese Politics).

Patricia’s primary research focuses on mapping the interactions—including institutions, practices and networks—between the Party-state and social forces in China over time.

Head of Department David Doyle said:
