The Social Sciences Board’s Teaching Audit Committee has awarded Gavin Williams a Teaching Excellence Award. This award is a result of colleague nomination from the International Development Centre, for an outstanding contribution to the organisation and administration of teaching. The committee was impressed by Gavin Williams’ creation of the Oxford Research Network for Governance in Africa (OReNGA) and its success in supporting individual research projects as well as attracting international participants to graduate-led student workshops, in addition to developing an imaginative and effective course structure for the Politics in Sub Saharan Africa course.
